Induction and QCF Qualification - A Seamless Approach
What is so special about an Induction?
To get the best start in the Caring Profession – an Induction provides a customised and effective start providing knowledge and skills which will form a stepping-stone to be built on throughout the whole career.
Do I have to start again in my learning curve after the Induction?
Technically yes – but with “the COMBO” Staff will be approximately 30% qualified by the end of their probationary period.
So what exactly is the COMBO?
The COMBO is a golden opportunity to take one massive step forward – by allowing the Carer to be working towards her/his professional qualification from day one.
Put very simply –just ONE portfolio of evidence of work and experience fitting directly into the requirements of the early days of caring and long-term career development
So how does it work?
The candidate actually addresses the evidence gathered (and experiences gained through the Induction process) DIRECTLY to the relevant QCF Level THREE Qualification.
The principals apply equally to every aspect of care from young children to care of the elderly – and all recognised specialisms.
Let me get this right – ONE PORTFOLIO for TWO Qualifications?
That is it exactly. When the portfolio is approximately 30% completed – the Induction requirements will have been met. The Candidate then just seamlessly continues to work towards their Professional Qualification.
Sometimes the evidence may have been unusually specialist (or very involved) it could well satisfy other parts of the Qualification not included in the Induction – and would be easily cross referenced because of the similarity in paperwork.
How does NVQ Academy do this?
NVQ Academy would train the mentor in using the skills of a Work Based Assessor – the same as those working towards the QCF Assessor Qualification. The practices and evidence gathering methods would be identical – as would all the paperwork and systems.
As in most Workplaces – the senior person mentoring new and inexperienced Staff would be the one the Organisation would prefer to provide continuous and ongoing assessment.
NVQ Academy has linked the criteria requirements of both induction and qualification – and married them together to prevent the need for the carer (and assessor/mentor) to double up on learning, experience, evidence gathering and assessment.
